Yeh chapter aapka Chemistry ki duniya mein pehla kadam hai—basic terms, fundamental ideas, sab kuch yahin se shuru hota hai. Hum yahan important questions uthayenge, numerical problems ko todenge, aur har concept ko aise samjhenge ki aapka base solid ho jaye. NCERT solutions ka poora maksad yehi hai ki topics aapke zehan mein saaf aur behtar tareeke se baith jayein.
Is chapter mein hum matter ki asli nature samjhenge—woh kya cheez hai, kaise behave karti hai. Phir physical quantities aur units ki baat karein, measurement ka tareeqa, aur haan, uncertainty in measurement bhi hai jo kabhi kabhi sar dard banti hai. Aur ruk jaiye, laws of chemical combination bhi isi chapter mein cover honge, toh poora package mil raha hai.

Is section mein hum chapter 1 ke har important topic ko utha kar detail mein samjhenge, aur saath hi NCERT textbook ke saare exercises ke solutions bhi step-by-step de denge. Koi topic chhutega nahi, aur koi sawal bhi adhura nahi rehne wala.
Matter ko hum aise cheez ke roop mein samajhte hain jo jagah gherti hai aur jiska mass hota hai. Ab is section mein hum matter ki teen states — solid, liquid, gas — par dhyan denge aur dekhenge ki unki properties kya hoti hain. Pure aur mixture ke beech ka fark bhi yahin samjhenge. Thoda detailed dekhen to, solid ka apna shape hota hai, liquid apne container ka shape le leta hai, aur gas to poore space mein phail jaati hai.
Har physical quantity ko naapne ke liye ek fixed unit hona zaroori hai—bina unit ke to measurement adhoora hai. International level par SI units hi follow hoti hain, jaise length ko meter (m) mein aur mass ko kilogram (kg) mein naapa jaata hai. Aur haan, isi section mein hum significant figures, precision, accuracy, aur scientific notation jaisi cheezon ko bhi samjhte hain, kyunki inke bina measurement ka poora concept adhoora reh jaata hai.
Dalton didn’t just throw this theory together randomly—he built it on some pretty solid postulates. For starters, he said all matter is made up of these tiny particles, and he called them atoms. That’s the whole foundation right there. Then he added another key point: every atom belonging to a single element is identical to every other one from that same element. No exceptions, no variations—just carbon atoms acting like carbon atoms. Oxygen atoms doing their own thing. It’s simple, but it changed everything.
Atomic mass ko samajhne ke liye carbon-12 isotope ko benchmark mana jaata hai — usi se compare karke baaki elements ki masses tay hoti hain. Ab molecular mass ki baat karein, toh yeh simply ek molecule ke andar jitne bhi atoms hain, un sabke atomic masses ko jodne ka result hai. Aur phir aata hai mole concept, jo actually mein samajhna kaafi zaroori hai kyunki yahan 1 mole mein 6.022 x 10^23 particles hote hain, jise hum Avogadro number ke naam se bhi jaante hain.
Yahan maine kuch important numerical problems utha kar unke solutions likhe hain, jo seedha NCERT exercise se aaye hain. Kuch sawal aise hain jo aksar exam mein aa jaate hain, isliye inhe achhe se samajh lena.
Example 1: Let’s find the molecular mass of glucose, which has the formula C6H12O6. We’ll need the atomic masses first—carbon comes in at 12u, hydrogen at 1u, and oxygen at 16u. Now, multiply each one by how many atoms are in the molecule: six carbons give you 72, twelve hydrogens add up to 12, and six oxygens total 96. Add those together and you get 180u. That’s your answer—clean and simple.
Example 2: What’s the mass of a single mole of sodium carbonate, Na₂CO₃? Solution: Let’s just add it up. Sodium’s 23, and we’ve got two of those—so that’s 46. Carbon chips in with 12. Then oxygen, 16 each, times three gives you 48. Toss them all together: 46 + 12 + 48 lands you right at 106 grams per mole. So there you have it—one mole of the stuff weighs exactly 106 grams.
Is chapter ne aapko chemistry ki buniyadi eenton se waqif karwaya hai. Matter ki states hon, measurement ke units, chemical combination ke niyam, atomic theory, ya phir mole concept—ye sab kuch milke aage ke chapters ke liye aisi foundation rakhte hain jo hil nahi sakti. In sab cheezon ko dil se samajh lena, bas yahi ek kaam hai jo aapko aage bahut door tak le jayega. Aur sach kahun, toh yehi woh hissa hai jahan aapki pakad kamzor hui toh baad mein sab kuch uljha hua lagega.
